Our school supports young women who may have not accessed education for a while, who are struggling in mainstream school due to varying learning and or social needs or just find the formal education system difficult to navigate!Read More
- When I started at YWH I struggled to adapt to a main stream environment, my attendance and punctuality was poor and my behaviour was deteriorating. Moving to a smaller environment I was able to work on my behaviours as there was less pressure around me. I had access to more support with my education and felt as though I was being listened to and heard more. I had built solid relationships with all the staff and felt safe and comfortable to talk about personal stuff which helped me! Being at YWH also helped me with what I would like to do when I leave school, and this has made me feel more confident with post-16 choices. Even though I have days that I have not wanted to engage and have completely shut down, staff have been patient and persistent to encourage me and remind always to do my best. I am really proud that I have been able to sit me exams especially speaking and listening, because if I was still at mainstream, I believe I would not be able to do them. I am also very proud that I have been accepted with a place at college and can move on without struggling.
